Guided tour of the House of the Salt Workers of Guérande
Guided tour of the House of the Salt Workers of Guérande

Departure by coach to the Maison des Paludiers in Guérande. Upon arrival, a guide from the Maison des Paludiers will introduce you to this interpretation center dedicated to the world of salt marshes. This visit will reveal the history of this unique area, the essential role of the salt worker, as well as the traditional tools used for generations. You will also discover how the salt-producing landscape is organized and shaped by both human activity and natural elements.

The visit is designed to be lively, educational, and interactive. The guide will rely in particular on a large-scale model of the salt marshes to explain how the basins operate, the circulation of seawater, and the various stages leading to salt harvesting, ensuring an engaging and informative experience.

In addition, you will attend the screening of an immersive documentary film, followed by a discussion with the guide. You will then continue by coach to a gourmet break at a local crêperie, where you will enjoy a traditional crêpe accompanied by a glass of cider, a true regional specialty. Return on board.

The Museum of Traditional Trades of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Plaine in Anjou, Mauges-sur-Loire
The Museum of Traditional Trades of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Plaine in Anjou, Mauges-sur-Loire

Early morning departure by coach (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes’ journey). Step into this place of exchange housed in a former convent, dedicated to the preservation and transmission of French artisanal heritage. Created with the aim of promoting traditional trades, true pillars of French craftsmanship, the visit to the Museum of Trades will introduce you to around thirty traditional professions, including blacksmiths, carpenters, shoemakers, saddlers, weavers, as well as trades linked to agriculture and rural life.

A life-size reconstruction featuring a 12-metre-long cobbled street immerses you in the heart of a village from the past, offering a clearer understanding of these professions, many of which have now disappeared or evolved over time. The visit also highlights the ingenuity, precision, and physical demands of manual labor, while emphasizing the transmission of skills and the evolution of techniques through the centuries.

A discussion with the guide will provide the opportunity to explore certain aspects in greater depth and to share memories and anecdotes. Return on board by coach (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes’ journey).
